Medication interactions
- Blood thinners and aspirin: ginkgo and vitamin E may increase bleeding risk.
- Diabetes medicine: chromium and alpha lipoic acid can lower blood sugar.
- Thyroid medicine: take it a few hours apart.
- Seizure medicine: ginkgo is a concern for people with epilepsy.
A note for smokers
High-dose beta carotene raised lung cancer risk in smokers in large trials. The 450 mcg here is modest, but current and former smokers should mention it to their doctor.
Eye symptoms that need a doctor
- Sudden loss of vision or a dark curtain over part of your sight.
- New flashes of light or many new floaters.
- Eye pain or redness with blurred vision.
- Straight lines that look wavy.
